We run an organization where women show up feeling pretty beat down. Walking in, they are just hoping that complete strangers will treat them with some level of respect or provide them with some personal dignity.
We hear their stories … We hear how their trust was betrayed, and how they have survived without food, lived in cars, or moved from one shelter to another. We hear about the violence they’ve experienced and why they don’t feel safe.
They tell us about all the schools they attended, and because they never stayed in one place very long, they never made friends. We hear about how addiction has ruined their lives, and how felonies made them lose jobs, an apartment, or how it meant their kids ended up in foster care, or how a divorce or job loss threw their lives into chaos.
No matter what their circumstances, these women are interested in being part of their own success by finding employment. Regardless of their many obstacles or the significant weight on their shoulders, we make them feel like they matter and that we believe in their future success.
My Sister’s Closet services are unique within our community. We help women be seen as credible, reliable job applicants. 85% of women report finding a better-paying job within 6 weeks of their first appointment.
Please support this life-changing programming with a gift or a regular donation to our Relocation Fund. Our lease ends in June, and if our building is not renovated, we will not be able to move our services, or they will disappear until we can restart them up again.
Warmest thanks, blessings, and appreciation,
Sandy Keller
