Ready-2-Work

This program provides intensive life skills training and real-world work experience to highly motivated clients seeking self-sufficiency, financial independence, and permanent employment. This multifaceted, 8-week pre-apprenticeship program provides candidates with the following:

  • Individualized time management, reliability, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving coaching
  • Training in social media marketing, sales, and supply chain management
  • Training in critical thinking, active listening, teamwork, and customer care
  • Mentoring sessions with community professionals specializing in speech, presentation, mathematics, financial wellness, professional writing, interview skills techniques, and physical wellness
  • Nationally accredited WIN career readiness programming and various achievement certifications in academic, soft, and digital skills
  • Job advocacy in the community during and after Ready-2-Work Programming

Interview Skills Training 

Appropriate clothing is only part of the solution when applying for that next job; professional image and communication skills are also necessary. Regardless of previous employment history, learning how to give a firm handshake, professionally introduce oneself, and appear confident when answering questions in an interview setting is essential. My Sister’s Closet can teach interview strategies to simplify the process.

Through the Interview Skills Training Program, clients will:

  • Learn time-proven techniques to give a competitive advantage over other applicants
  • Turn negatives into positives about any situation
  • Utilize tools to help stand out, get remembered, and get called back
  • Master body language and professional appearance
  • Respond to and practice for common interview questions with confidence
  • Answer tough questions about job losses, layoffs, and resume gaps with ease

Resume Review and Construction

Clients will learn how to:

  • Use STAR statements and other tools to help stand out, get remembered, and get called back
  • Turn negatives into positives when telling a previous employment story
  • Concisely report previous employment and lessons learned in life

Job Search Assistance 

Advocates will help clients with:

  • Using networks of friends and acquaintances to find job opportunities
  • Posting the resume online on specific job search sites
  • Using job search engine sites to find job listings using keywords and location
