Our Mission

Established to build a stronger community and promote economic self-sufficiency by providing women in poverty with professional support services & career development tools for success.

What We Do

My Sister’s Closet of Monroe County, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, uses proven tools, mentoring/training, and advocacy services, to help vulnerable women living in poverty and at-risk circumstances find economic success and self-sufficiency.

Our Philosophy

We do this by re-marketing these women to potential employers, so they are seen as credible, reliable, and respectful job applicants. The result is significant improvement in their ability to find gainful employment, which reduces homelessness and multi-generational poverty.

How do we accomplish our mission?

My Sister’s Closet accomplishes its mission through a series of Core Client Services. These proven tools, mentoring, life skills training, and advocacy services combined with an exceptional clothing program using a Compassion Through Fashion philosophy.

My Sister’s Closet of Monroe County promotes economic self-sufficiency by providing professional attire, support services, and essential career development tools for success. Through funding from our Bloomington resale boutique and generous sponsors, our grassroots organization has provided free tools and training to thousands of low-income and at-risk women since 1998. Our goal is to end long-term homelessness and multi-generational poverty – one woman at a time.
